Booking

How does booking work on this site

Go to our fleet.
Enter the desired start date and number of people. When possible, choose the desired period of stay. If it is not available, choose the period with fewer days. It is possible that the period is full due to maintenance or for cleaning. Also, some days are not available as a return day, but it is possible to rent.

Click on “Results”
Select the yacht you want (The Corona has 2 larger bedrooms).
The calendar of the yacht in question then opens. In blue you see the selected period. At the bottom you will find the price including cleaning without options. The last amount in blue is the selected rent. The prices before that are the prices until that day.

The above example has departure on the 13th and return on the 19th. It is possible to go until the 16th. This costs €700. When you choose the 26th, you pay €1520. By clicking on another date you can choose a new period.

Now select “next”.
All options appear.
Life jackets are recommended for all persons on board (free of charge).
Sea trial for new customers is mandatory. The course is mandatory for captains without experience on a steel yacht of 10 / 15 meters, with a fixed axle or weight of 15 tons.
Fill in all data.
"Discount code" is intended for people who have already booked several times and have received a unique code for repeat discount.
Choose the payment method and when you agree with the conditions, click on it.
Now click on “Book”. Your data will be processed and an email will be sent.
From what age can I rent a boat?
Reservations for groups or parties of persons under the age of 23 are not allowed.

Can the dog come?
On one of our boats, the Boreas, it is allowed to bring a dog. Costs are charged for this. These costs are €10.00 per dog per day.

Is it possible to view the boats prior to the rental period?

Yes, of course it is possible to view our yachts beforehand. Our boats are often rented out, so not always in the harbour. Call us for an appointment, so you don't come for nothing.

Departure

What time can we leave with the yacht?
The Corona has a fixed departure time of 8:30 am. The Boreas, Flamingo and Orion have a fixed departure time of 9:30 am. Other times are possible in consultation. If you have a test run, your departure time may be changed.

What is the departure and arrival place?
HM Yachtrental
15 Keersluisweg
5433NM Cuijk (NL)
Tel: +31 (0) 412-642434 or +31 (0) 614519499

Many navigation systems indicate too early that you have arrived at your destination. In most cases you will then have to drive for another 500 metres. At the blue lock (from the road you look to the right against the side), drive down to the right at the sign for HM-Yachtrental or Jachtwerf Gebroeders Vissers.

What do I have to bring along?
Our yachts are equipped with a complete kitchen inventory, cushions, charts and almanacs. You must bring your own bed linen and pillowcases. It is possible to rent duvet packages from us, if booked in advance. For the complete inventory, see below our information folder. Click here to open it.

Which size bedding should I bring?

The Boreas, Flamingo and Orion have 3 fixed bedrooms, of which 2 double beds (double bed fitted sheet) and 1 bunk bed (2x 1 person fitted sheet). In addition to the bedrooms, the dining area and the sitting room sofa can be converted into a bed. Because it is not rectangular in shape, you are advised to bring a sheet for this.

When can I rent a VHF radio?

A VHF radio is not mandatory on board our yachts, unless you would like to sail to Belgium. With a VHF you can call lockkeepers and harbor master. To use a VHF radio you need a basic VHF certificate. You cannot rent a VHF radio from us without a certificate. We need a copy of the certificate. An online copy also works fine as an alternative.

Services

How is the power supply on board?
12V, 24V and 230V is available on board the yacht. The motors charge the 24V system. With converters, this is made into 12V and 230V. A maximum of 1000W can be used on this, otherwise the voltage will drop or the fuse will blow. There is one socket where shore power up to 16A (3680W) can be purchased, this is usually available at ports.

Is there hot and cold water on board?
All yachts have a boiler on board which is heated with the heat from the engine. After the engine is off, this tank remains warm for a very long time and you will therefore have hot water for a long time. The Flamingo and Orion can also use shore power to heat the water without the engine running. There is also an 800L water tank on board. This is filled with drinking water, but is no longer suitable for drinking because the water can remain in the tank for several days. After boiling the water, it is drinkable.

Can the toilet be used on board?
There are 2 toilets on board. These are supplied with water through the water tanks. When flushing, it is pumped to a holding tank. These are thin pipes and the pump sometimes has to do very heavy work. So nothing else than your need and toilet paper may be flushed down the toilet. Use as little toilet paper as possible and only fast-dissolving paper to prevent blockages. (There are 4 rolls available, more soluble toilet paper can be bought on site).

Below is an explanation of how to operate the toilet. Turn on subtitles for instructions. You can enable this via the screw icon "Settings".

Sailing / Operation

No sailing experience and no boating license?
No license is required for our yachts (shorter than 15m and maximum speed below 20km/h). However, sailing a 15-ton ship requires some skills, which is why it is mandatory with us to follow a course. You can book a course with a holiday and will be scheduled on an earlier date, unless there is sufficient sailing experience.

When do I have enough experience to rent from HM-Yachtrental?

Sailing a steel yacht of 12.5 m and a weight of 15 tons requires different skills. To ensure that you and your fellow water enthusiasts sail safely, we want to make sure that these skills are present. We therefore make it mandatory to take a course and to conclude it with the right skills. Only if you have recently sailed a yacht of approximately 12.5 m and 15 tons with a fixed axle can we shorten this to a test run.

Do you have experience and do you want to book, the following knowledge is expected of you:

Turn as short as possible without bow and stern thruster within 25 meters. (on its axis)
Mooring and mooring at flat quay only with bow thruster (lock passage)
Backwards Sailing in and out of the box only with bow thruster (use rudder position)
If it is not clear during the test run that the above can be carried out in a controlled manner, it is unfortunately not allowed to sail. A course will then have to be scheduled (not always possible on the same day).

Pickhook?

The pitch hook is the indispensable boat hook on a boat, a stick with a hook at the end and usually a thickening at the other end. A handy tool for picking up objects that have fallen into the water or for guiding the anchor. However, the pickhook is not intended for holding off or attaching to another ship.

How can I map out my route?
Perhaps it is nice to map out your route in advance. The apps below can help you with this:
- dewaterkaartenapp.nl: Here you can also find all information about the port and locks. This app is free to use for the first 7 days.
- riverguide.eu: After installing the app, choose recreational. It is free to use after registration

Which areas can I sail?

You can sail on all Dutch inland waterways with the Vissers yachts, with the exception of the IJsselmeer and Markermeer. If you still want to go to the IJsselmeer or Markermeer, this is possible with the Flamigo, Orion or the Boreas with wind force 2 or lower. There are separate rules for foreign countries, please contact us so that we can see what is possible together.

What are the traffic rules on the water?

There are several written and unwritten rules on the water, the site below has listed the most important rules:
- varendoejesamen.nl:

The BPR is in force on the Maas. The RPR is in force on the Upper Rhine, Lower Rhine, Waal, Lek and Pannerdensch Canal.

The BPR (inland navigation police regulations) and the RPR (Rhine navigation police regulations) are broadly the same, but there are some important differences regarding requirements for lighting, blue sign and radar. But the main difference is that in the RPR a small ship must ALWAYS give way to a large ship. So even if a small ship sails to starboard, it must give way to a large ship.

What does the boat use per km?

RPM Speed Hour  Consumption/KM
1000 8.8 km 3L 0,34L
1250 10.9 km 5L 0,45L
1500 12,2 km 7L 0,58L
1750 13,5 km 11L 0,81L
2000 15,0 km 17L 1.12L

Where can I fill up with diesel?

You leave with a full tank that you can use for at least 2 weeks. When you are on the road for longer, you will receive a fuel list from us with locations where it is possible to refuel along the water.

How do I operate the anchor?

Various factors play a role in anchoring correctly. The length of the chain for the correct depth, the anchorage, and the subsoil, if necessary. current and wind speed and wind direction.

Follow the steps below to anchor correctly and safely.

  • *Choose a suitable anchorage with sufficient space.
and where it is allowed (check this on the map or ask Rijkswaterstaat)
*Determine the water depth and the soil conditions of the desired anchorage.
Possibly. 2nd anchor (auxiliary anchor) Prepare your anchor gear, such as the anchor line (to prevent creep)
*Consider how much line/chain you need to put in.
*Cruise slowly to the anchorage against the wind.
*Take the boat out of the boat by hitting backwards.
    * Gradually lower the anchor to the bottom as soon as the boat just begins to reverse.
*Secure the line/chain with sufficient length.
*Tighten the anchor by slowly sailing backwards.
  • Check that the anchor is firmly fixed.
  • Always make sure that there is enough depth at the rear of the ship (screw side), so no stones. So that no damage occurs. Anchoring is always your risk
  • Hoist the anchor ball as a sign that you are anchored. Use the anchor light in the evening.
  • Soil map abbreviations:
  • Certain water charts show the type of bottom with abbreviations.
We have listed the abbreviations and their meaning for you:
  • S: sand M: mud Cy: clay G: gravel St: stones R: rock
  • When looking for a suitable anchorage, you should also take into account the amount of space available. Make sure there is sufficient swing space in relation to the land and other boats.

  • The anchor chain is 25 meters, you can anchor to a depth of about 8 meters.
See the video below for information

Should I check the engine on the way?

The yachts are always fully checked before departure. For smaller trips (<7 days) it is therefore not necessary to check the engine again. For longer trips, we recommend checking the engine in between to be able to sail with even more certainty.

What if I cannot / am not allowed to sail due to weather conditions?

Our yachts are built for almost all Dutch weather conditions. You can sit dry and warm outside under the hood due to the outdoor heating. In the event of a thunderstorm, you are also safe inside the boat because of the steel frame that directly diverts power to the earth. Sailing in the following weather conditions is not advisable and is sometimes prohibited: > wind force 5, dense fog, thunderstorms or strong currents. Therefore, always take into account that your planning can run over time. When extreme weather is predicted, and we do not think it is wise to leave our port, alternatives will be looked at in consultation. The current waterway availability can be found at: https://vaarweginformatie.nl/

Anyone who sails on the IJsselmeer or Markermeer has to take into account waves that rise at lightning speed. In strong winds, the waves grow to an average of 60 cm and when there is a storm, they can reach a height of up to 1.5 meters.
